Policies: Managing BlackBerry Pearl in the Enterprise
A series of new IT policies have been developed to make managing
the features and functionality of the BlackBerry® Pearl
8100 smartphone within your organization easy and intuitive.
1.
Camera
An IT policy exists that allows the administrator to disable the
BlackBerry® Pearl camera. Like all BlackBerry Enterprise Server
IT policies, this can be applied at an individual level, a group
level or across the entire BlackBerry smartphone deployment.
2. Expandable Memory
Administrators can also set IT policies to disable the smartphone's
expandable memory capability and/or its ability to function as a
USB mass storage device.
Further, an IT policy allows administrators to control data encryption
on the expandable memory card: they can disable encryption entirely
or encrypt the content to the user password, the device key or both
the user password and the device key.
